In English our book this term will be A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle. We will be writing our own sci-fi stories, using this book as inspiration. We will also be writing poetry, looking at imagery, including personification, metaphor and simile. Science is our big focus this half term we will be looking at to unravel the mysteries of the universe, learning about the behaviour of heavenly bodies by eating Oreos, (it does work, honest!), before zooming in on the creation of our planet’s landscapes, considering how the movement of the tectonic plates has shaped our environment We will be looking at the lives of these famous men. Copernicus, Galileo and Newton all suggested that the earth moved around the sun but it wasn’t until Newton’s time that the world was ready to accept it. History is littered with great Scientists and astronomers who shocked the establishment in their day. In the Spring Term Cedar Class will be looking to the stars, thinking about our place in the galaxy before zooming in on one harmless, rocky planet floating somewhere in the Goldilocks Zone…
